World Senior Chess Championship
American IM Larry Kaufman (2391) and Romanian GM Mihai Suba (2531) are the
joint winners of the World Senior Chess
Championships. They finished the event with 9/11.
With this win Larry Kaufman, who is a published chess author, coach and lately co-creator of the computer chess program Rybka, in addition to being a mean Shogi player, fulfils his dream of becoming a GM.
The ladies section was won by Latvian WFM Tamarra Vilente (2208) on 8/11 points.
The only African player at the tournament, Egyptian Mohamed Mahrous (2036) finished on 5.5 points.
