World Senior Chess Championship

8 Rounds have been completed in this years Senior World Championships taking place in Bad Zwischenahn, Germany from the 28th October to the 8th November 2008.

The leaders after 7 rounds, Russian IM Vladim Onoprienko (2336) and Romanian GM Mihai Suba (2531), have been joined by American IM Larry Kaufman (2391) on 7/8 in a 3 way tie at the top.

In the ladies section Russian WIM Gali Strutinskaya (2282) has been joined by Latvian WFM Tamarra Vilente (2208) on 6 points.

The only African player at the tournament, Egyptian Mohamed Mahrous (2036) is currently on 3.5 points.
